I have pre-paid for the room. I arrived -after 5 hours driving- at 12:00 PM and they told me that if I wanted to check in I had to pay an early fee otherwise I had to wait until 3 PM to have the room. I have stayed in more hotels that I can say, and this is the first time that a hotel wants to enforce an early registration fee. I understand that hotels put check in time at 3 PM because they need to clean and have the rooms ready. This was not the case because the room was available and ready. Ramada couldn’t do anything with the room that I had the reservation for; they couldn’t rent it for three hours, so they were not losing any money if they gave the room before 3 PM. A good hotel does everything to help their customers, this was not the case. Ramada preferred to leave you in the reception waiting for 3 hours. When I arrived to a good hotel and the room is not ready (even before 3PM) they do all they can to prepare the room and they let you have it without any penalty as soon as it is ready. The person in the reception showed no customer service attitude and he basically said: pay the early fee or we’ll see you at 3PM. Fortunately, this is not the only hotel in Austin, I found another hotel. Excellent staff and guess what they didn’t charge me for an early fee registration. The service quality of the manager was so poor that I preferred to lose the pre-paid rate that to stay in this Ramada hotel. A hotel is more than any business a place where you want to feel “at home” and well treated. Anyone who has this type of expectations should not stay in Ramada.

This was the second time we stayed at Ramada Central-Austin. The clean, comfy room, helpful and cheerful staff, and the hot breakfast made our week-long stay durung Christmas week memorable. We worried that being in a motel at this time of year would be a downer, but the staff (and other visitors) made it quite enjoyable. The free WIFI, printing station, and cozy lobby were extras we appreciated. All this for a super-fair price. We will stay here again when we next visit our son at UT.
