First i thought it would be a really fancy hotel because it is a crowne plaza. The lobby was pretty nice as well as the restaurant. The rooms were basic. They were small as the same with other London Hotels. The Queen bed was positioned too close to the desk, it was hard to walk around. Couldn't find a clock. However i think it was attached to an ipod dock. What if you don't have an ipod? The bathroom shower controls were hard to figure out. Internet was free in the lobby but no Wi-fi. You had to pay $3./hr. The Hotel was very close to things. Like the public transportation and a few museums.

Staff was very friendly and courteous, Simon at the front desk went the extra mile a number of times. He came out of the hotel to greet us (we didn't see the signage for the hotel) and showed us two different rooms to find us the best one for our needs. The room was smallish for a "family" room, but was very clean and beds were super comfy. The hotel is in one of the nicest areas of London and walking distance to Hyde Park and Kensignton Gardens. Although the hotel is a distance from other major attractions (Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, etc.), it is right across the street is the Glouchester tube station - which is on the main line and can take you directly to most of London's best attractions. Get the rail card - it works for both buses and the tube. There are quite a few restaurants and pubs close by as well as a SPAR grocery store to stock up supplies. FYI - internet is not included (very surprising considering the room rate) but if you look around a lot of pubs/restaurants offer free wifi. Breakfast was pricy @ 15 "quid".

The hotel was very nice and the hotel staff extremely helpful. The room was a decent size which fit our family of four nicely. We could not have picked a better location because the hotel is right across the street from the Tube and a grocery store. Although another review mentioned having a fridge in the room, be warned because even shifting the items around to make space would incur a charge. However, since Waitrose is right across the street, it was easy to pop over for quick breakfast foods or lunch sandwiches. The hotel has a traditional English breakfast for 17 pounds a head but right across the street is a restaurant that charges 6 pounds..quite a savings. There is a charge for Internet, but Starbucks and KFC less than a block away has free wifi. Anyone traveling from Heathrow will love the location because it's right off the Picadilly line.

Perfectly located just a short walk to the Natural History museum, the V&A, Hyde Park and on the road to Harrods, this understated hotel is a winner. The service is excellent--from Breakfast (recommended buffet English breakfast), to the Concierge desk (very helpful), to the housekeeping (never saw them but miraculously the rooms were always clean and ready when we needed them). We traveled with 3 teens and the hotel was instantly accommodating by giving us adjacent rooms. We were there for seven days so we got a very in-depth experience of the hotel. The bar/lounge food is excellent, although we did not try the Asian restaurant on this trip. Next time. The concierge desk arranged for 10 of us (with no notice at noon on Sunday) to have full service at the bar/lounge area as we were meeting family that day. This hotel is quiet! Which in a city a busy as London just a few weeks before the Olympics (when we went) is a blessing. There is a nice garden in the back that is a great place to take a nice drink in the early evening. The only complaint, and I suppose there has to be one so they keep improving, is the wifi/internet. At 15£ a day it is pretty steep and it was working not very well or reliably. When told of this upon check out, they were careful to take notes about this experience (but alas didn't offer to deduct any of the charges). I will note that it seemed that they were in the process of some sort of upgrade the day we were leaving so hopefully this singular blemish will no longer be an issue.
