A gorgeous Craftsmen style hotel on the el! The staff were fantastic, especially the evening front desk staff and the Bellmen. The location is perfect convenient to everything and the neighborhood felt safe even in the evening. We had a room in the back of the hotel and therefore had no view at all but we had absolute silence as a reward which is saying a lot with the el right outside the front lobby. The view would be spectacular higher up and the el noise would fade with the upper floors. The front desk staff even helped us with reservations and educated us on the "Chicago pizza story" following through by calling several establishments to discover the current table wait time at those not taking reservations. We will return to this gem in Chicago!

The hotel was very convenient for utilizing the "L" and going to Millineum Park. It is in a very good location. The only issue would be if you got a room that was right next to the subway tracks.

02/09/2011Great experience here. half block walk to the el. right downtown and close to everything. beautiful, older hotel and was well maintained. the doormen were especially helpful. loved it!

I enjoyed my stay at the Silversmith Hotel. The employees were very pleasant and helpful, and my room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The location was very good, too: just a couple blocks from the Art Institute and Millennium Park, and surrounded by good restaurants. I believe the theater district is very close. It is just two blocks from the blue line train, which takes you to and from O'Hare, and it was an easy bus ride to the natural history museum, aquarium, and planetarium.
