We stayed at the Hyatt the weekend before Christmas for the Midwest Clinic and it was a wonderful hotel. Located on the River next to the Magnificent Mile it's easy to walk to restaurants, shopping, and cultural events. Would definitely stay here again because it is a great value for such an upscale hotel. Rooms had very nice king sized comfortable bed and views of the city and river. Flat screen TV was a plus!

Our group of 6 friends stayed in three rooms on varying floors. The rooms are modern & clean. The views from east-facing views in the west tower were of the river & lake; very nice. Others faced office buildings. Elevator areas were far too small for the size of this hotel. Prepare for a crowd & a wait to use the elevators.
Decent array of restaurants in & around the hotel. Location is prime, central, & easy to access most Chicago landmarks.
All that being said, there's far too much noise in & around the hotel. One night, we had several rooms partying around us until 6AM. Same thing with another couple from our group on a different floor. Both of us called the front desk. It took 5 calls to get a Hyatt employee. They said they'd send up security but nothing changed. Even if they had, you could still hear every toilet flush within every room around yours. After 30 minutes of sleep on the last night, we called the front desk to get a cab for 6 people to the airport. The person was very rude & said there are cabs lined up outside or we could take a shuttle. Of course, we got downstairs & there were no cabs anywhere. We ended up paying double for a shuttle.
Seriously, there are plenty of nicer hotels in this area. Don't let "location" fool you. If you value sleeping at night, I would not recommend the Hyatt Regency. -

Although our reservation was made well in advance, our quiet 1 king bed or 2 double bed smoking room was not available at check in. Instead we were placed in a small, noisy (over the bar) no smoking room with 1 double bed. We were told this room was an upgrade of our original room. I think they must have been mistaken-our confirmation was for a king bed or 2 double beds not something that when upgraded became 1 double bed in a closet! They said that their confirmation only guarantees that you have a room-not the type of room that you have requested.I THINK PEOPLE SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS POLICY. I was unaaware of this until I complained to their consumer affairs department. I feel that if they don't have the room available that you want-they should say so when you make your reservation! At least then you have the option of making reservations elsewhere! Next time I will stay elsewhere!

The location of the Chicago Hyatt is perfect, right between the magnificent mile shops and the Millenium Park/Art Institute areas. My daughter and I shared a 15th floor room with great view of the river and out to Navy Pier in town to shop, visit relatives and see Wicked. Although the Hyatt is a huge hotel, (2,000 rooms +) the check in was quick and the bell man helpful in storing luggage etc. I do have a couple of suggestions for improvement: the maid service was too eager, too early as we were on west coast time and an 8 a.m. knock at the door was followed by two more attempts even after we asked the maid to not come back until after we left for the day about 10. There were lots of Chicago Bears fans and some large groups which made for a noisy hallway. Earplugs solved the problem the second night. After checking out we were notified our flight was cancelled and Rocco at the front desk was extremely helpful. He secured our family a room at O'Hare Hyatt at an amazing $59. a good value for the money for a clean modern room with super comfortable beds.

My overall experience at the Hyatt was wonderful. The staff were not only friendly but very helpful. The hotel was nicely laid out inside, the dining was exceptional especially with the island in the middle of the hotel lobby, and the location is very convenient. I didn't get to use the fitness room or the pool area, so I can't state my opinion. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and the price is reasonable.
