My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the Congress and it was a pleasant stay. The rooms are dated but it is a very old Hotel however I do believe that they could do some upgrades on the room like carpet replacement, shower heads and they need to invest in new beds; it was like sleeping on wooden boards. The location of the hotel is great and within walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shops it is also across the street from Grant Park and a few blocks from the train. BTW you can buy a day pass for the train and buses at any CVS or Walgreens for 5.75 and get on an off all day, it's cheaper than the cabs which is almost 5 as soon as you get in. The lobby and staff at the hotel were great everyone in Chicago was so nice to us. If the upgrades to the rooms get done I would def. recommend this hotel to friends and family. BEWARE the huge prices for parking! $33 a NIGHT for Valet, but the Valet guy was very nice and helpful. One other thing, the room we had was right across from the train and it is very loud, it didn't bother me though b/c we live near a train but if you have trouble sleeping through loud noises you might want to ask for a room on the other side of the building and if you want a bottle of water don't pay the $4 at the gift shop in the hotel, walk down to Dunkin Donuts it's only $1.59 there.

My room was on the top floor, the attic if you will. Windows were tiny, furniture was old and some of it was In poor condition and broken. Woodwork paint was chipped and peeling. Good thing I had other things to do in Chicago besides spend all day in the hotel.

I have been in this hotel two times in the past two years that I had to travel nd stay in Chicago and It was comfortable and close to the places i needed to go to.. I think it was good service, place is clean and all was in a good average.

this hotel was nice. Had a lot of historic charm. just wish it had a few more accomidations such as Internet, free continental breakfast. The air flow in the room could have been better had to keep the windows open to keep the room cool at night. But the staff was friendly.
