I had taken a vacation to South Beach with 6 of my friends. We chose to stay at The Beacon cause it was in the middle of everything. When we arrived, we did not get what we had paid for...adjoining rooms, ocean view, microwave in room, cleanliness. The room service was horrific! We had to ask them to clean our rooms in which they did a terrible job...they did not change the bedding, just made the beds (which had bedbugs...woke up every morning with bites) they did not sweep the floors or replenish our towels when needed. Cockroaches...GROSS! There was a very bad storm one day we were there that lasted 9 hours! I'm not saying it was their fault for the weather but the hotel (the only hotel on the strip) was out of power for 6 hours! They did not offer any flashlights or candles and had no information as to when the power would be back on. The walls were paper thin and you could hear everything going on around you. The very small window in the bathrooms had plexiglass over them so you could not open them, the showers leaked....must I go on?! The entire experience in South Beach was AMAZING! I just do not suggest anyone stay at this hotel. You will be extremely disappointed!

The location of the Beacon is fantastic and puts you into the center of South Beach. The room was small but very clean, and the bed was super comfortable. Our room was towards the back of the hotel, so we didn't hear a lot of noise in the evening, but there was blaring noise in the alleyways starting very early in the morning. The hotel provides beach towels and chairs which definitely came in handy. The staff was hit or miss with service. Some of the staff and front desk were friendly and said hello, some would ignore you. When we asked questions, there were definitely some staff members who were more helpful than others. Skip the complimentary breakfast at Johnny Rockets: I was given a plastic container of cereal and half a glass of warm milk....not so good. You can find much better breakfast deals on Ocean Drive. I've stayed in many hotels in Miami, and this is definitely a great value for the location.

The Beacon Hotel was AMAZING! It is right in the middle of all that is happening in South Beach. This was my first trip to Miami...and we are already booking our next trip to the Beacon. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We needed the lock to our room fixed...and it was done in less than an hour, while we were at the beach. The waiters at the restaurant are awesome...we will definitely be dining there again! The rooms were clean, and the hotel was very quiet, despite being in the heart of the Sobe action. It is within walking distance to everything you'd want to see while here...no need to rent a car or take taxis. I can't wait to return to the Beacon!!!

We stayed here April 9-11, 2009. We had an ocean view room which was very spacious, the bathroom was upgraded and very clean (rain shower, Aveda bath products), the bed was super comfortable and was a king size, great LCD tv, mints on your pillows, the works! We really enjoyed our stay at the Beacon, the staff were also very helpful. It was a bit expensive ($* USD / night) but I'm pretty sure you get what you pay for in South Beach. Before booking a hotel in South beach, I must have read reviews about a hundred other hotels, and most people complained about noise. Well, the Beacon hotel is right in the middle of the South Beach strip, and our room was facing the street and the ocean, and we didn't hear a thing! We slept like babies! I would highly recommend booking the Beacon if you plan on visiting South beach :) Also, you get a free continental breakfast from Johnny Rockets right next store :)
