Great hotel for Austin area.

I loved the decor, the service, the big California King bed, and the great breakfasts. The internet was fast and it was nice to have free printing. I did not realize, as a business associate informed me when he picked me up for my training, that it is located in an area where it is not safe to walk outside. There is not an attached restaurant. My associate said to get a cab even if I wanted to go down the street to Applebees. At least 5 other people at my place of business echoed his warning. Yet, the front desk clerk had told me the night prior that the area was very walkable and that I could take the walkway to get across the road to neighboring restaurants. Either they wanted to keep a better impression of the area than is actually true, or they hired someone who does not know the actual crime rate of the area. I chose it because it was affordable and close to the area I needed to be in, and the rooms and guest services inside the hotel were amazing. However, as a female traveler, I would not stay in that area again. Try for the Congress Ave area or South Austin, but avoid being situated in the Northwest side near I-35.

I stayed at this hotel while in town for a triathlon. The hotel staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. The hotel seems to have very recently been remodeled, and it is very clean and pleasant. Breakfasts were excellent. The outdoor pool area is also far nicer than you get at most comparable hotels.

I don't normally comment on hotels, but I was very pleased with the Hampton Inn and can recommend it to those who just want a good place to stay at a good price. It is a lttle difficult to find if you have not been there before.

We have stayed with Hampton Inns in the past, and this one was almost as good as our usual experience. The room was comfortable and my daughter enjoyed her sofa bed, although when it was open it was difficult to use the desk chair. The free internet was a big plus and we had no problems with it. The bathroom counter was small, too small for three toiletry bags, but the shower was nice. The breakfast buffet, normally our favorite part, was good but not great. The orange juice was watery two of the three mornings, and the biscuits were a little crunchy. The bagels, muffins, and hot dishes were delicious though. I especially loved the smoked sausage and the biscuits and gravy. The staff was mostly out of sight but we didn't need much. The rooms were quiet except for the fact that we inadvertently stayed during the RoT Rally and motorcycles were revving in the parking lot all night long. But the room itself was quiet and comfortable. The location was great to everywhere we needed to go in Austin. We would likely stay there again.
