We stayed in Red Lion in March. I expected quite a bit from my research on the website and by reading the reviews, but I had no idea! Red Lion exceeded my expectations in every way. The location in downtown Seattle is literally convenient to everything, including transit to other areas of town. The staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. The room was clean and well-stocked with amenities. Only two minor glitches in the stay: upon arrival, we found that there was no hot water for the shower, but the staff promptly corrected the situation. The other is that the walls are apparently thin enough to hear conversations clearly in the next room (but that may have just been a quirk of our room.) Still, you may want to keep your voices down if you're discussing something of a sensitive nature. In short, the Red Lion is definitely worth the trip; I'll certainly be staying there again.

I suspect this is normally an excellent hotel. We had the misfortune of visiting during reconstruction of parts of the hotel. Overheard a manager explaining that th 6am rotohammering was "just work that had to be done." No hot water for a day. Most employees seemed to be either uninformed or deceptive. Finally a young lady named Lolly stepped up and was honest and helpful. She turned what could have been a very bad stay into just another part of an interesting and pleasent visit to Seattle.

My family and I recently stayed at the Red Lion. We found it to be in an excellent location - right in the middle of downtown and just a few blocks to the Link taking us to/from the airport, the Monorail, historical Pioneer's Square and of course Pike's Market. So there's no need to rent a car as everything is within walking distance. The room was huge and the beds were very comfortable. All in all, we were very pleased and we will definitely stay there again the next time we find ourselves in the Emerald City.

  • Not bad for a downtown hotel

The Red Lion is pretty standard for a downtown hotel. Everything was nice and well maintained and it was a comfortable stay all around. I didn't have much interaction with the staff outside of checking in/out but they seemed very nice and courteous the few times I spoke with them. I only have a few complaints and they are all relatively small: - The breakfast buffet is way overpriced for what they were serving. It was very simple breakfast fare (eggs, bacon, sausage, and toast/bagels) and even for "downtown prices" it seemed a little steep for what was there. Mixing it up with some pancakes or waffles would have made it a bit more worth the price. This one's not too big an issue since there are plenty of places nearby to grab some breakfast. - This is largely personal preference, but the water in the shower wasn't very hot. I like my showers to be super hot and the temperature never really exceeded mildly warm. - The last thing is that it said there was free wireless internet but I was never able to find it using any of my WiFi devices (an android phone and an iPad). There was a LAN cord to hardwire in to a computer, which worked fine, but I wasn't able to use WiFi at all during my stay. Again, these were all fairly small issues overall so my overall stay was decent.
