Intercontinental Mark Hopkins hotel has a good location close to the Masonic Lodge where we had our annual conference. It is a good long walk to Union Square but you need to be physically fit to climb the steep hill. My only issue is that our room is not noise proof. We stayed at the third floor facing the corner of California and Mason streets--it was noisy! I woke up several times because I could hear the traffic etc. Other than the noise, I highly recommend this hotel because it feels like home.

My only disappointment was Top of the Mark. We tried twice. Never got a good seat, got sat once in front of a funky 1960's band. If you don't get a window it not worth it. It's a lounge, not a restaurant. Wifi was 15.00 a night ! The car was 53 a night.

Our experience was fabulous. The staff was courteous,friendly and provided excellent service. The bedroom was very comfortable . The TV was a but difficult to figure out but since we hardly watched it, it is of small consequence. We were located right by a cable car route as well as being walking distance to many main attractions. Because of it's location and grandeur, meals are very pricey. We went elsewhere for meals so I can't review the quality.

Found a bargain price for 3 deluxe rooms. Nice old hotel. Two on lower floors (3rd and fourth) had problems with noise. The walk down to Union Square is considerable even for an athlete. When you check in make sure you have a high floor away from dock and/or front door. Supposed to get newspaper delivered every day, but never happened. Internet is another $18 per day. Top of the Mark bar is crazy expensive for small drinks.
