The deals at the Westin are for the old part of the hotel. For experienced travelers and those expecting luxury will be highly disappointed. The walls are very hallow so you can hear people next door, across the hall, even across the window form you. The bathrooms are like 1960's style and the toilets flush with so much pressure that you can hear everyone in the neighboring rooms above, below, across, and around. The oak room is really low ball for a dining experience. Michael Mina was amazing!!! but they turned it into a burbon steak, which is much different than the luxurious quality of the previous restaurant.

Booked this hotel for an anniversary and was very pleased, The room was clean and comfortable although could be just a touch bigger. On the other hand, the staff was very friendly and cooperative. Ice and bathrobes were delivered to our room within 5 minutes. The location couldn't be better with all the shopping and dining just around the corner.

  • Could not ask for a better location.

This hotel is situated in a perfect part of San Francisco. We stayed in the "legacy" part of the hotel [read: old building, not the new addition] and our room was located on an interior courtyard [read: bad view, but quiet at night]. I love that the windows actually open. I loathe hotels that have fixed windows. Check in was simple and quick with only a brief wait. The room was larger than expected and the hardware [door handles, etc] was charming. We opted for the cash credit to skip room cleaning for two of the days and redeeming this credit was uncomplicated. We ordered a breakfast one morning which was perfect: the poached eggs were hot but with liquid yolks. The lobby and hallways of the hotel were immaculate. And we visited the hotel bar several times, The Clock Bar, and every drink was a treat. My only criticism would be that I remember reading that newspaper service was free, and at no time was this offered--and I forgot to ask. Also, the hotel has an excellent taxi system. So when you leave the hotel and want a cab, it is quick. SF cabs are notoriously not there when you want them, so this is a nice feature.
