My husband and I took my son and his friend here on vacation to celebrate their 21st. birthday in August. Bally's had a wonderful location and we were very comfortable in our rooms. They were quite sizable and a great value for our money. We checked in late but had to wait very little. They enjoyed the gaming tables and I enjoyed the sizable pool. I would definitely stay here again. And no Resort Fee's which I think is a huge bonus. Not paying for something we didn't need or want is always good !!

  • Good place where the action is on the strip

This was my third time to Vegas but my girlfriends first. Ballys was closer to much of the action we wanted and definitely a surprisingly pleasant experience. When will come back next time we may rent a house or be in a hotel off strip... But we definitely recommend this place for first timers or people who dont mind a good, clean, friendly strip hotel without all of the freebies of a Marriott but with plenty Las Vegas Strip charm!

Overall the hotel was nice, especially for the price. It is in a perfect location. One probem was at night when trying to sleep, a loud sonic boom like sound kept reoccurring; turned out to be the Ballagio fountains going off across the street !Advice: Don't get a room facing the strip.

  • Very good value, great location, but showing its age.

We selected a Bally’s room because they offered the best price for a non-smoking room, centrally located on the strip, with a pool, free parking, and no resort fees. Our 4-night stay at Bally’s met our needs adequately. When we arrived at Bally’s on Monday, mid-July of 2011, we opted to use the self-park parking garage and wheeled our luggage from the car about 100 yards to the elevator, then down a long corridor about 100 yards to an escalator, through another 60 yards of shopping mall, onto the Bally’s casino floor for another 100 yards to the front desk where the check-in line held about 30 folks ahead of us. We could have chosen to drop our luggage off with the bell captain at the main entrance to avoid the quarter-mile walk with our bags, but our luggage has wheels and we packed light enough that we each had only one bag to wheel behind us, so the trek was not a big deal. It took about 15 minutes to get to the front of the check-in line. We requested a non-smoking room with a king bed, but were told only two queen beds were available unless we would accept a smoking room, or wanted to pay for an upgrade to a deluxe room for an extra $15 per night, or a junior suite for an extra $20 per night. We went with the junior suite (room 6702) which touted a superior view, sunken soak tub and more than double the square footage of a regular room. We took the elevator to the 17th floor and found room 6702 at the end of the corridor, next to the emergency stairwell exit, which I liked. On the way to the room we passed the ice machine and a soda machine with an “out of service” sign on it. Our room keys gained us access to our room where the first thing we noticed was a bleached stain on the carpet about the size of my foot, just inside the door. As we ventured further into the junior suite, we were impressed with the size of the room which was about 30 feet long with large windows along the length providing a great view of the surrounding hotels and a distant view of Las Vegas appearing between the towering Ceaser’s Palace and Flamingo hotels. A nicely made king size bed against the far wall was accented with night stands at each side with the standard lamp on each. An older clock radio on the left night stand showed the time in large red digits, but was several hours off the correct time. My wife tried to adjust the time without success, so she just unplugged it. The bathroom/dressing area in this junior suite was elevated about 6 inches, giving the rest of the room a feeling of a sunken living space. The bathroom area was quite large and open to the room, separated only by a steel railing. The centerpiece of the bathroom was the large sunken soaking tub, surrounded on either side by full sized closets with sliding mirrored doors. Two full sinks with full size counters, across from each other, fully mirrored, allowed me and my wife to each have plenty of space to get ready in the morning without tripping over each other. A full sized stall shower provided me a place to shower while my wife enjoyed the tub. To the right of the stall shower was the toilet room, to the left was a bidet room. We have never used a bidet, so we played with it a little bit and watched the water squirt in the air, but never used it. I would have preferred another toilet instead, for his and hers toilet rooms. One of the closets offered a safe for cash and jewelry, but warned there would be a $3.00 fee per day added to your bill if you used it. We didn’t. Overall, the room was very good. We slept well on the bed and the room was promptly cleaned and made up each day while we were out. We visited the pool on Wednesday evening about 5:00 p.m. and enjoyed a cocktail from the bar on the pool deck. At $14 per drink, we only had one apiece. The pool was scheduled to close at 8:00 p.m. and they started stacking empty lounge chairs about 7:00 p.m. which made us feel a little rushed to get out. I was curious why they would stack the chairs at all, so I asked a deck attendant who told me it was to make it easier for the remaining guests to depart. So what could be better? While everything was adequate, there are several things that made Bally’s a 3-star hotel instead of a 5-star, in my opinion. First, no one likes to wait in line when they arrive, so more clerks at the check-in windows would be a plus. Then, the bad bleach stain at the room entry should be repaired, as it gives a nasty first impression of the room. The furnishings are old and show signs of wear from thousands of visitors banging into them with luggage, dropping their keys on them and just normal wear, dents, and dings. The carpet should have been replaced years ago, and the wallpaper was equally dated, and needed a patch job where a 2 x 12 inch section around the tub was torn away leaving exposed sheetrock. The windows were dirty, obscuring the view just a tad, and the television was an older CRT type with some interference issues on some channels. Considering this was a “junior suite” a few amenities such as a refrigerator, coffee maker, and “free” use of the safe would have been appreciated. I was annoyed that the soda machine down the hall was “out of service” when we arrived on Monday, and was still “out of service” when we left on Friday. If they don’t fix it Monday through Friday, when will they ever fix it? I won’t complain about the long walk to the car, because I could have pulled right up to the front door and paid for valet parking if I wasn’t so cheap. I would recommend Bally’s as a good value for the money. I would rate the room with 3 stars overall, but the price was very reasonable for what we got. If you want to bask in opulence, pay for one of the five-star hotels. If you are looking for a decent room at a good price, Bally’s will fit the bill. What will I do next time? I will keep my fingers crossed that one of the five star hotels will offer me a comp. If not, I will probably pay to stay in a five-star hotel so I can feel like a big shot for a few days while we wine and dine in the lap of luxury. After all, isn’t that what Las Vegas is all about?
