Was comfortable, great location near Union Station and the Capital, very nice Irish pub restaurant, and rooms have a mini-fridge. Gym was just ok, and don't offer a reasonably-priced breakfast buffet.

The staff was ALL very friendly and helpful; I spoke with receptionists, bell hops, cleaning staff, and the Dubliner staff, and they were all happy to help. The rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. We even had a fridge! I felt like they wanted me to be happy more than they wanted my business. (Which I guess is their way of getting my business. ^.~ ) The location was fantastic as well! A short walk to union station and the capitol. Now, if only the Dubliner made potato skins as well as they made breakfast... ( That really is my only complaint. )

I was pleasantly surprised to find such a comfy room for the very reasonable price. Bed was very comfortable. I am a traveler that does not need a lot of floor space. Bathroom was very nice and clean. The Irish cotton robes were exquisite. Nice flat screen tv on the wall. Location was excellent, just a short block from Union Station. The Dubliner Irish pub attached to hotel was great for some excellent food at affordable price with an Irish entertainer every night. I highly recommend this place to the thrifty traveler that requires a comfy bed and clean bathroom in a great location. Parked at union station for $20 per day.

We stayed in the Phoenix Park Hotel for two nights over Memorial Day weekend. Since the hotel is so close to Union Station (part of the reason we chose it), I was a little concerned that there would be a lot of street noise. I called a week before we arrived to request a room on an upper floor. We arrived around noon and thought we would have to store our bags until 3:00, the posted check-in time. However, since the room was already prepared, the very pleasant woman at the front desk quickly checked us in, confirmed that we wanted an upper floor room and gave us our keys. The room itself was smallish but more than adequate for us. It was very clean and had a large window. Shower pressure and height (we are 5'6" and 6'1") was fine. Our room was on the 9th floor and the street noise was muted - I am a light sleeper so this was very important. Most critical of all, the bed was extremely comfortable. While cleanliness, location and comfort were all excellent, where this hotel really excelled was in the quality of the staff. Everyone we met was welcoming, helpful and efficient. If we come back to Washington DC, we will certainly stay here again.
