The location was a plus-All the positives end here. Room was painfully small. But you don't know small until you try to walk into the bathroom. Goodness I had to wedge myself between the sink and the tub to sit on the commode. The room and the hotel lobby smelled like a nursing home. We requested a pull out bed 2 straight days but somehow the staff either could not locate one or forgot. The hotel touts a high tea during the afternoon-alas that has not been the case for several years much to my daughters disappointment. The workout room was closed. I would not recommend this hotel and the rating should be no higher than a 2-3 star.

  • General feeling: saving money more important than supplying service.

We stayed in 2 hotels from mid 1920's: Drake Chicago and this one in Boston. The Drake exuded class in service and product quality on all levels. This hotel exuded appearance of class. Service was not very good. Breakfast was reasonable, but not good enough for the price. Fish restaurant and central location in Boston only seriously good parts of the hotel. Room had space and good bed, but had, in stead of one decent size bathroom 2 miniature bathrooms. I wonder why a hotel room needs 2 bathrooms and why they need to be of a size making them suitable for dwarfs only. My recommendation is only just positive.

This is an older hotel but in a great location. It is steps away from Boston Common, in the theatre district and steps from Newbury Street (great shopping district.) The room was well laid out and a deluxe double suite was large and had two bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable. The downside was in the service provided. Shortly after checking in we discovered that there was no soap in the room. We used the shampoo as a temporary handwash and asked the front desk to send some up as we were heading out for dinner. Hours later...still no soap. The next morning we discovered that the coffee maker wasn't working and again notified the front desk. They said that they'd send a new one up and when we returned, we still couldn't tell whether the machine in the room was the one with problems or a new one. Given that it worked fine the next morning it appeared that they had sent up a new machine but it would have been helpful if they'd left a note or a voice mail on the phone. On day three we needed assistance booking our return flight and again approached the front desk. Both employees were busy assisting customers and we waited and waited. Clearly they were giving terrific service to the two parties being served but it was more than 10 minutes before one employee finished serving the person ahead of us. He then promptly left the desk and we waited another 5 minutes for the female employee to become available. By this time there was a line-up of people waiting for service. All-in all it wasn't a bad experience and if you don't need assistance from the hotel staff it would be a good place to stay. It is an older hotel, the t.v. reception was poor, the rooms were large but not very clean, the coffee maker (once fixed) was great (a keurig) and the location is ideal. I'd stay again if the price was right.

Originally, I was booked for a petite room. After checking in they upgraded me to a spacious two bedroom room. The view was amazing and the bed was SUPER comfy. Staff was very pleasant from check in to check out. I wasn't planning on spending too much time in the hotel as it was a short trip and I wanted to see the whole city. The location of the hotel was perfect and walking distance from many of the attractions. I felt very safe at the hotel and in the city during all hours. The only downside was a toilet that was too close to the tub and a glass shelf directly over the sink that I bumped my head on when washing my face - However, these are hardly worth complaining about. Thanks! I would definitely stay there again and recommend to friends visiting Boston!

  • Perfect for fun and business
