Fine for a short stay, but small

The staff was welcoming, but we were unable to check in on time. The room was clean and had the amenities we wanted -- fridge, microwave, good cable TV, balcony, internet, ocean view. However, the bathroom was postage-stamp-sized, tiny, infinitesimal. I think the word infinitesimal is bigger than that bathroom was. For a weekend it was ok, but if we were planning to stay longer I would find another hotel. The room was also small. Our room had 2 beds and a pull out sofa. if we were to use the pull out sofa there would be virtually no place to stand in the room.

06/01/2012I only wish the couch had been by the inside door rather than the balcony.enjoyed ourselves pool and everywhere where constantly being kept up with.will stay again !

wasn't a good room, had a water leak in room. carpet was soaked

the first room they gave us the a/c unit didn't work so they gave us another room. and there we had a water leak in the kitchen area but wouldnt give us another room. carpet was soaked. they tried to steam clean the area but was wet again in an hr. a/c was load and leaking. veiw of ocean was nice.

Overall the HJ was a good value. The rooms were clean and spacious, with a mini kitchen including dishes, large flat screen tv and a couch, good ocean views and right on the boardwalk.. Some things we didn't like about the HJ was they had no early check in (not a big deal), the bathroom was tiny and had no counter space at all ( I used the kitchen counter outside the bathroom.) and you had to work around the bathroom door to get in or out because of the size limits. I noticed some of the other rooms had bathroom sinks and counters outside the bathroom. We complained about the poor water pressure and they sent someone up to fix it for us, so that was a good thing. The ac units have sensors, so when set to auto cool it would kick off after 20mins of inactivity or reaching the desired temp. Setting the ac control on the cool prevented this.

I will never stay here again. This year, This Howard Johnson "went green", which I'm all for, however it definitely made our stay next to miserable, and in my opinion they only did this "green" switch to save money. There is such low water pressure that my toilet didn't flush. We had to use our trash can to fill up with water and empty it into the camode. The shower heads are limited to an output of two gallons per minute of water. Then, the worst of all was my a/c. When there is inactivity in the room for 15+ minutes, the air conditioning turns off, and stays off unless the room gets over 80 degrees. I don't know about you, but after I'm out at the beach all day, or for ten minutes for that matter, I DO NOT want to come home to a room that is 80 degrees hot, and that's what we've been dealing with all weekend. It takes about an hour to get the room from 80 degrees to 65 where I like it. On top of that, every time we open the door to the balcony or the door to the hallway, the a/c shuts off and takes about 5 minutes to turn back on after the door shuts. Going green is also a priority of mine, however the changes they've made here appear to only exist to save this hotel money.
